Andrew's 2nd Birthday

On August 13 Andrew turned 2!!! This year he loved all of the hipe about his birthday.
He enjoyed taking his picture. We took it within 2 min. so that probably helped:)
He loved seeing Papaw, Kathy, Uncle Matt, Jo, Gabby, and of course Papa, Nana, and Tia!
As you see, he enjoyed icing his cake that Jo had made him. She let him dig in to the icing during the process of making the cake look pretty:)
Andrew enjoys helping in the kitchen, especially if it is something sweet!
As part of his friends party, we went to the Fire Station to look at the fire truck. We made cookies as a thank you for the firemen. They were very glad to receive them. And we enjoyed making and eating some ourselves.
We got Andrew a Fire Truck book that is just like a Digger book he already has. His birthday themes were Diggers and Fire Trucks. He liked them both so we chose to use them both. He has loved reading his new book:) And he has enjoyed all the other exiting gifts that he received!

Our family went on our first mission trip together at the end of July. We went to Clarkston, GA which is not far from our home. There we met many people from all around the world who have been relocated to Clarkston from refugee camps. We were able to share Christ with many lost people and had the privilege of seeing a young girl come to know Christ! As you see, Andrew fit right in with the kids:) What a joy this was for our family!
The first week of August, Andrew got to go to the Zoo for the first time. He enjoyed seeing all the animals. If you look closely you can see we got to be up close and personal with a tiger. Andrew loves making a tiger noise so obviously this was a highlight for him! But it was also a highlight for us and his papa, nana, and tia:)

Andrew and Mommy went to pick strawberries with our friends Stephanie, Lee, and Luci. As you can see, Andrew did not do much of the picking but it was fun!
This was Andrew's second plan ride, but his first in such a small plane! Mommy was not so for sure about him going since she lost her breakfast on her trip up...
but Andrew did great in his daddy's arms:)

I know it has been awhile since we updated our blog. A lot has happened since the last time. Two of the big things are that we moved into a different house and found out that we are expecting our second child Sept. 15 2011! Here are some new pics.
This picture is from March when David came home last. It is always so good to have him home!
This is what Papaw got for Andrew for Easter... he loves picking up sticks and putting them in the wheelbarrow.
Even though he doesn't show it, Andrew wishes you Happy Easter too!

In our attempt to get some good family pictures, it was hard to get Andrew to smile. So we pulled out the faithful keys and phone of Nana's and it worked:)

Andrew loves his daddy!!! It is not uncommom for Andrew to meet Steven at the door when he gets home from work with a big grin saying "Da, Da, Dadda!".

Our mission was accomplished... this was the picture I was really wanting:)

We figured Andrew was what most people wanted to see anyway.
After several weeks of training in colder baths, Steven was proud to see that Andrew loves the water.
Andrew may look a little concerned but he really loves it...especially splashing around!

Oklahoma Trip

During March, we had the opportunity to travel to Enid, OK to visit David and watch his graduation from Pilot Training School at Vance AFB. Andrew did great on his first airplane ride!
David was generous to let us stay in his place.

Congratulations David!

We did so many fun things, the least of these being flying on the simulator.

Of course, we all did a lot of eating (including Andrew first water bottle)!

On our last day, we went to see the memorial at the OKC bombing site.

As you can see, Andrew has enjoyed his first week of real food...avocados. What a way to get started!

Don't worry, he's not in "time-out". He just loves his new crib from his great-grandparents, Jo and Gabby. (Thanks!)

Vacation to Virginia

We were blessed to be able to go on a vacation to Williamsburge, VA in January. It was great to do some adventuring as a family. One day we went to Washington D.C. We did a lot of things like the Washington Monument, visited Senator Westmoreland (Steven's favorite part), the American History Museum, a tour of the Capital and so much more. Andrew enjoyed it all! We had to care a lot of things for him but we had a blast!

Steven and Andrew enjoyed playing with the stuffed animals while Christy spent a few hours in the Yankee Candle museum:) The boys did not seem to mind!

The first day we were there, we took Andrew to the beach for the first time. As you can see it was a little windy and cold but at least he got to see the beach!

At the condo, Steven and Andrew decided to chase the geese...I am not so for sure if Andrew enjoyed it or not.

We traveled to Atlanta to see Steven's family for Thanksgiving and then stayed with Christy's family the rest of the weekend. Andrew was worn out by the end by loved the playtime!

To our surprise, Andrew seemed to really enjoy his first trip to the pool. Don't worry, we didn't let go!

You can't see it well, but Steven carved our pumpkin with some exaggerated teeth (maybe for Andrew's dreaded milestone!)

We first stopped in Nashville to catch a lifetime photo. Here's five generations!

There's a proud great-great grandfather and great-grandma!

We drove to Chattanooga to spend the evening with the Chambers at Cooledge Park and Qdoba.

We also got to meet up with Erica and Lizzy there.

Next, we drove up to Dayton to eat lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant, Delia's. All of Christy's roommates in college still live near Dayton. They had a blast holding Andrew!

Our Baby - Part 1

On Wednesday, Christy's doctor told her that she needed to have the baby induced that evening. So when Steven came home from work for lunch that day, this is what he found on the bed...an outfit for our surprise baby, a note of encouragement from Christy, his favorite candy for energy and the letter telling us to be at the doctor that evening. Needless to say, we were pretty scared.

We called our parents and by that night, they were both at the hospital ready to wait it out. It ended up being almost 24 hours in the waiting room.

Then Steven Andrew Chambers Jr. finally came on Thursday, August 13 at 5:06 pm. It was a moment we'll never forget!

He weighed in at 5 lbs. 11 oz. and was 20 inches. They were kind of rough with our little guy.

Later on, Steven had to be trained in how to change a diaper. The nurse said he picked up quickly.

Our church definitely blessed us with a big party and baby shower. This first picture is only a sampling of the feast we had that day! We are so grateful to everyone who gave us a gift...thank you!
And thanks to Mr. Edlin for showcasing the gifts. This was a big help to those bingo enthusiasts. (Everyone had filled out a blank bingo card before opening gifts with various baby presents).

At the end, Christy had to model for everyone to vote: boy or girl?

It was divided almost 50/50

4th of July

We had a crazy weekend for the 4th but it was a lot of fun! We rode down with Matt and Christy's dad to Chattanooga for a wedding on Lookout Mountain. Neither one of us had ever seen Matt so dressed up....

David and Allie were friends of ours at Bryan College.

Their reception was at Rock City...I thought it was appropriate to have the Tennessee and Georgia flags at the book-ends.

The next day, we celebrated Rick Noel's b-day with about 50 friends and family at his cabin on Cherokee Lake.

Unfortunately, his birthday was once again shadowed by Steven and Christy.

It's a little late, but that's only in keeping with her style :) On her birthday, Steven made one of Christy's favorite cakes --- confetti cake with twizzlers. Really, she had never heard of anything like it until she saw it! She liked it a lot!

Vacation with the Grandparents (to be)

We were really thankful to be able to spend a week at Seabrook Island, SC with Steven's parents, which are the grandparents to be! One day, we drove about an hour north to visit a friend of David's at the Charleston Air Force Base and even got to walk on a C-17. Later that we day, we visited the city. This first picture is us at Rainbow Row.

After Steven's finals, we took a quick trip to Florida to see David before he is transferred to Oklahoma. We stayed with Lt. Chambers on base at Whiting Field, about an hour north of the Pensacola Naval Air Station and the beach. To start off, here's a picture of Christy right outside David's apartment at 25 weeks!

There's nothing quite like eating when the Chambers get together. Obviously, it's a high priority, no matter where we are!

Check out Christy perfecting her hush puppies. We also enjoyed some fresh fresh from the market.

It looks like Christy enjoyed the towel over the hole in the sand Steven made her.

Do we look like SEALs? No, not really.

A Braves Game in Cincinati

Christy surprised Steven with an incredible date on Saturday that she had been planning for weeks. Here are a few snapshots to capture the highlights of the day!

Driving into Cincinati for a great day wathcing the Braves take on the Reds at the Great American Ballpark.

It started out eating at one of our favorite restaurants (probably Steven's more than Christy's, but...)!

We even made it for BP...a Chambers' tradition that Christy now gets to "enjoy"!

Thunder Over Louisville

Like always, pictures never do justice. Unfortunately, that's especially true with airplanes and fireworks.

This fighter is one of many planes that flew over Saturday. Of course, I'd have to get Ltd. Chambers to identify it...quite impressive!

It's very possible that the food grilling out was the best part...

Thanks to some good cooks (Steven, Chad Ashby, Clint Harrison). The girls did a good job too!

Spring Break at Bryan College

We spent the first weekend of our Spring Breaks back at Bryan College. We had a blast hanging out with old friends and enjoying life in Dayton, TN! We spent the first part of our weekend helping Steven's grandparents move family Nashville and also got to see Christy's Maid of Honor, Kristen and her new husband Brody Wells at the famous Opry Mills Mall. On Sunday, we went to church at Hixon Presbyterian Church with the Gery and Kara Woodworth. That afternoon, we drove to Bryan for some Ultimate and Matt Noel's surprise birthday party.

Christy made an amazing ice-cream cake. She says it's not like DQ's, but I disagree!

Later that evening, Christy enjoyed her first baby shower at the Livesays.

Steven was especially glad he went to watch the basketball tournament when he saw this picture!

Looks like half the 'possy' is there! Congrats to Allie! She's getting married in July!

To all our family and friends that haven't seen us in a while...this one is for y'all!

I (Steven) have always wondered why they put a blanket on the chair? Just another thing I doubt I'll ever understand about showers!

The next day, we took the really long hike up to Buzzards. Like always, though, it was worth it. There's not too many things like going to Pocket!

Back in Louisville, we spent a day at Bernheim Forest. I wonder if this means she wants flowers?

A Visit from the Chambers

The first weekend of March, Steven's mom and sister came up to visit. It was the first time they have been to Louisville since the wedding. We think they really enjoyed our apartment. Since Kari was still in her cast :( we decided to make a trip to Cincinnati to visit the Creation Museum. It was incredible! If you ever get the chance to go, we highly recommend it!

For some reason, Christy was really excited about getting her pic by the...well, we can't remember what it was?

This is Steven's little sis, Kari. She had just had surgery to fix some torn ligaments on her wrist.

Even though she told people that the dinosaurs were her favorite part, Christy was apparently scared of them!

Apparently, Kari was a little more brave!

Steven still can't believe he used to love petting zoos so much!

Happy Valentines Day

What can you expect? We're only two weeks late! Anyway, here's some pics from our first Valentine's Day being married.

We'll start out the week before...Steven is solving his puzzle. After he arranges the balloons in the correct order, he pops one open each day leading up to Valentines. Inside, Christy put her favorite things she loves about him on small pieces of paper.

And now for Valentine's Day...Christy can't wait for her favorite supper...steak, potatoes, salad and, of course, sweet tea. Hopefully, everyone can see the (dying) flowers Steven gave her too!

Two weeks later, we were blessed by some good friends to stay at a lake cabin in one of Kentucky's state parks. Steven aggressively looks at the map trying to find an adventure. Unfortunately, Christy is waiting in the car 'cause it's way too cold to do anything outside.

Besides exploring around the park, reading by the fireplace, watching the first Bourne movie and some college hoops on ESPN (a big treat for people without cable), Christy was proud to have successfully whooped her man in a game Scrabble. Don't worry, Steven's ready for a rematch!

Firsts...

To the surprise of many people, there are a couple firsts in our lives. The most obvious one is what you're reading, our first post on our new blog. Even though we thought we would never do this, we hope this will help people stay up-to-date with us.

Our second first is definitely a lot more exciting than our new blog. Believe it or not, Christy is pregnant! We found out over a month ago and we're so excited! We'll be having our first baby in late August.

Thanks to some good friends in Louisville, Reid and Kyra Karr, we have our first baby present! (Don't expect our family to always match this good!)

Don't worry, we'll keep you updated as Christy grows!
